Adventures in SLAM Tracking part 1

So like a lot of studios over the past 18 months, we have been playing around with SLAM tracking solutions and other AR Frameworks. And while its great that these are now common, among high-end devices at least, we often find that we need very specific asks from the tech and that the off-the-shelf versions don't perfectly fit and / or 3rd party frameworks are often prohibitively expensive or lacking quality documentation.
Its with this in mind that we decided to go back to square one and try to see if we can build a SLAM tracking solution in-house. The image below is from our very first tests and it's hugely exciting to get down to the bare bones of what is involved in making augmented reality. We hope to share more with you all as soon as we can!
